Halloween Happenings around Natchitoches

The Natchitoches community is offering lots of opportunities to have a little fun for Halloween this year.

October 28

● 5:30 p.m.: Freedom Life Church – Candy and games, costumes not required. FREE

● 7 p.m. AND 8 p.m.: Cane River Queen’s Spook Cruise – Enjoy a spooky cruise along the Cane River Lake. *Not for the faint at heart. Reservations requested. $

October 29

● 5:30-8:30 p.m.: Pumpkin Glow - The Historic District Business Association will hold its 8th Annual Pumpkin Glow at the rue Beauport Riverbank. All ages are encouraged to attend and are welcome to participate in the pumpkin decorating contest. Cash prizes will be awarded in both carved and painted categories. Pumpkin drop off will take place from 3:00pm-5:00p.m on Thursday, October 29th, at the rue Beauport Stage. FREE

● 5:00-9:00 p.m.: A Nightmare on Mill Street - The Brewhouse Bistro invites you to join a series of spooky events. Countdown to Halloween with us as we combine three days of fun, festivities and food! Kids are welcome and costumes are encouraged. One classic Halloween film will play each night of our countdown event! Please RSVP if your children plan to participate in the pumpkin coloring contest or the witch hat ring toss on Thursday at 6:30PM. You do not need to RSVP to attend otherwise. Adults, play "Guess how many Candy Corn are in the jar" to win a $15 Brewhouse Bistro gift card (must be present to win).

● Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Attractions open at 7 p.m.: Dark Woods Haunted Attraction - Two terrifying haunts in one convenient location. ● 7 p.m.: NPL Outdoor Movie - Grab a ticket for our free outdoor movie at the NPL Friday, Oct. 30th! We will be showing the animated film The Addams Family (2019). This event is only open to the first 50 people to sign up, so come by the Children's Circulation Desk to pick up your tickets ASAP! Only ticket-holders will be admitted.
No seating will be provided; you are encouraged to bring your own chairs and/or blankets for seating in the parking lot. Assigned viewing areas will allow for social distancing between viewing parties and masks are encouraged. Free popcorn and drinks will be provided, but you may also bring your own.

October 31

● 7 a.m. – 12 noon: A Spooktacular Open Paddle: Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and launching at 8:30 a.m. Drop your kayak off at the North ramp of the downtown riverbank area for easy access to Cane River. Parking is available within walking distance throughout the downtown area. For kayak rental information call Cane River Paddle & Pedal Sports at (318) 527-0066. FREE

● 8 a.m. – 12 noon: Natchitoches Farmers Market – “Kooky and Spooky” event on the downtown riverbank offering local produce and handmade items. The Farmers Market’s Kids Club will be handing out $5 worth of veggies FREE to children ages 3-13. There will also be a pumpkin carving and painting contest put on by Natchitoches Parish 4-H. Check your entry into the competition at the Farmers Market by 10:30 a.m. FREE

● 9-11 a.m.: Witch Way to Main Street – This event is FREE and open to the public on the downtown riverbank. Children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult to participate. Candy and prizes will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. FREE

● 2-9 p.m.: Halloween Putt Putt – Play putt putt in your Halloween Best and get a few treats at Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park in Natchez. $
