Louisiana Legislature Honors Louisiana's Oldest General Store

Natchitoches, Louisiana - The Louisiana Legislature commends and congratulates Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile for its 150 years of service in Natchitoches Parish. A resolution was presented by Senator Gerald Long and Representative Kenny Cox to Luke Frederick, president of the company.

"Steel Magnolias" Dedication Ceremony-April 26, 2014

NATCHITOCHES, LA -  “Steel Magnolias”, the hit movie filmed in Natchitoches, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. A special dedication ceremony honoring Susan Harling Robinson, the real-life character of the movie, will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the memorial garden off Pine Street in Natchitoches. A reception will follow the dedication at the Samuel Guy House located at 309 Pine Street.

Guiness World Records in NatchitochesThe oldest city in Louisiana is home to the world's largest beaded piece of art.  On Wednesday, December 4, 2013, Amanda Monehan, with Guinness  World  Records, will adjudicate “Une Rue Principale en Louisiane" as the "largest mural made of beads".  The unveiling ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Orville Hanchey Gallery in Natchitoches, Louisiana.   The public is invited.
